My Journey as a Product & Project Management Tutor: Empowering Learners to Solve Real Problems

Teaching is one of the most rewarding extensions of my work as a Senior Product Manager — not just because it allows me to share what I’ve learned, but because it empowers others to think like product leaders and build real value. I’ve had the privilege of tutoring online courses in Product & Project Management on the MySkill platform, where I help learners transform complex ideas into meaningful solutions.

The Product & Project Management learning path covers more than 40 practical lessons on developing digital products from idea to execution — including product discovery, prioritization, product strategy, and project practices. This curriculum is designed to guide learners through both strategic thinking and real-world practices required in today’s industry.

Teaching Problem and Product Discovery: Finding What Matters

One of the first topics I teach is Problem & Product Discovery — a foundational phase in product work that defines what we’re trying to solve and why it matters.

In this module, learners explore:

  • How to identify and articulate real problems worth solving
  • Techniques to understand target users and their needs
  • Frameworks for capturing insights from market and user research

Discovery is more than collecting data — it’s about building clarity. I emphasize that great products start with deep curiosity and disciplined validation. Every decision in product development should be rooted in a clearly defined problem that resonates with real users and business goals.

Seeing students transition from vague assumptions to confident, validated problem statements is one of the most fulfilling parts of teaching. My goal here is to help learners move from “we think this is a problem” to “we know this is a real problem worth solving.”

Guiding Learners Through Solution Development & Prioritization

Once the problem space is clear, the next challenge is deciding how to solve it — and this is where Solution Development & Prioritization comes in.

In this course topic, we focus on:

  • Generating a range of potential solutions
  • Evaluating ideas based on value, feasibility, and impact
  • Choosing which features or concepts to prioritize for development

Prioritization is a skill that separates good ideas from successful outcomes. In my sessions, I guide learners to use structured frameworks to evaluate ideas systematically — not just based on gut feeling, but on strategic alignment and real constraints.

This part of the course prepares learners to make decisions that maximize value with limited resources — a core competency of any product or project leader.

Why This Matters

My goal as a tutor goes beyond teaching tools and frameworks. I help learners develop a mindset — one rooted in curiosity, empathy, and strategic thinking. Whether someone is aiming to transition into product roles, level up their current practice, or launch their own initiatives, understanding how to discover real problems and make smart prioritization decisions is essential.

If you’re curious how to start thinking like a product leader — you’ll find that the skills you build here translate into every part of digital product work.
